The following below is one of my comments I made this morning. It’s on the post I recently did about Michael Heiser. I firmly believe Michael Heiser to be a snake and a devil – a deceiver who led people astray – and who continues to do so after his death with his published teachings. Ya know… Liberal theology crept into universities, colleges, and seminaries in the 1950s and 1960s. The professors and teachers at that time were straight up liberal in their understanding and idealisms. And these schools and teachers started pumping out liberal-minded students in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s – many of whom were filling the pulpits in mainstream Christian churches. And this was 50 years ago! People want to pretend that things are cool in the church scene. They’re not. There’s always been a Cultural Pseudo-Christianity ever since the 300s and 400s when we see the Catholic Church get some power. Of course, the Protestant Reformation took place inn the 1500s, but there was never truly a clean break from the system that is Cultural Pseudo-Christianity. The Reformers kept the priestly class, the buildings, the altars, the sanctuaries, the sacrifices and sacraments, the bylaws and codes of conduct, the laypersons who needed to learn from the priestly class, and more. So what we’ve got today is no different than what’s been happening for the past 1700 years – a cultural expression of what’s supposed to be the Church on Earth. As culture changes, this Cultural Pseudo-Christianity changes. And it’s no different today – as we see the “big shots” in this system – the scholars and academicians – being lifted up as great teachers to be revered and respected. I don’t buy into it for even one second. It’s a scam. It’s a dark system that involves money, power, influence, political maneuverings, control, self-preseverance, back-stabbing, wasting good and honest people, and climbing your way to the top. If liberal-minded professors and teachers were pumping out students who filled the pulpits in the system in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, were does that leave us today? And here’s the kicker… With online social platforms for the past 25 years, these big shot con artist scholars who wanted to remain relevant and on top had to leave the universities, colleges, and seminaries and now reinvent themselves to appear sane on YouTube to a wide audience! Just look at Jordan Peterson and some other total wack jobs! They could pull off their crap to a young gullible captive audience in a lecture hall in college – but now they look like they’re crawling out of their skin to appear sane and reasonable to a wider audience. I believe that many of them are literally demon-possessed many times over. But I guess people are cool with this level of insanity from these big shot scholars. Don’t get scammed by these charlatans. There’s a really simple verse in the Bible to consider… Paul said it to Timothy. Notice Paul didn’t say, “Hey Timothy, I’m running a sale on my books right now. If you buy three, there’s this special price and free shipping.” Paul consistently pointed people to Jesus and the cross. Paul did not grandstand or exalt his calling. The verse is from 2 Timothy 2:15, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The key words here are “APPROVED TO GOD!” If you’re approved TO GOD, you won’t be in this sick and perverted system trying to work it and become something special here in the world. I know where you’re coming from – which is obviously defending a false teacher. The Bible is far more simple than these scam artists let on. Just because somebody chose much education and a religious business career doesn’t mean they’re right. Of course these scam artists are going to have some truth – that’s the way cults work in general. It’s the FRAMEWORK that’s employed that’s the issue. And when you study cults and how they truly operate with special language, your come to see that it can be VERY CLOSE to truth in the Bible – yet THEY DEFINE TERMS DIFFERENTLY. And once somebody buys into somebody’s FRAMEWORK, they get steeped deeper and deeper into the cult language and definitions. I’m not budging on this. Michael Heiser was a deceiver. He presented HIS OWN FRAMEWORK that cannot be found in the Bible. Is it similar language and terms? ABSOLUTELY YES – which is why it sounds appealing to people who can’t discern what’s happening. But the whole FRAMEWORK he makes up is not in the Bible – and I don’t care who says it is – it’s not. So what ends up happening is… People INVEST IN (time, energy, money, etc.) Michael Heiner’s framework, and THEY ADOPT ALL THE LANGUAGE, RHETORIC, TERMS, ETC. into their understanding and explanation of the Bible. I’ve actually heard scholars and teachers quote Margaret Barker! And if you study her teachings, you find that she is a total nut case! But she’s a SCHOLAR who has some clout IN THE SCENE! I can go on and on with all these scam artists who THRIVE on coming up with something different and exciting to present to people. I’m going with God’s word. I’m going with Paul, James, Luke, and Matthew. It’s really pretty simple stuff. I’m saved for 40 years now. I got saved in the summer of 1987, and I’ve been diligently studying the Bible ever since. The Gospel is simple. God’s redemption plan is simple. Having a healthy systematic theology is simple. There’s no need to overlay or add clever frameworks from slick con artists to the Bible. People have a choice about who they want to follow. Some are into the Catholic Church. Some are into the Orthodox Church. Some love this scholar or that scholar. I get it. People are free to do what they want in this respect. I’m going with God’s word. I happen to take the 66 books of the Protestant Reformation Bible. That’s me. That’s my choice. That’s where I’ve landed after 40 years of being baptized with the Holy Spirit by God. If somebody else wants to layer Michael Heiser’s framework into their understanding, great. Go for it. I’d rather go to bed tonight and physically die in my sleep than layer Michael Heiner’s framework into my understanding. He was a snake and a devil. He led people astray, and his teachings will continue to do so. He’s not an anomaly! There’s tons of deceivers just like him! I’m going with God’s word and staying away from these deceivers.
