Full Preterism disguising as Partial Preterism

Kim Burgess, co-author of a 2023 book with Gary DeMar, is definitely a Covenant Eschatology Full Preterism Cult member, just like Gary DeMar.

Like Gary DeMar, Kim Burgess insists that he’s not a Full Preterist, or “Hyper-Preterist”, but both of them have one foot in Futurism, and one foot in Full Preterism, which actually makes them Full Preterists. A better way to put it is… They both clearly teach Covenant Eschatology Full Preterism Cult doctrine, but they incorporate some Futurism elements in their Full Preterism.

Frankly, Kim Burgess is very confused about where to keep and put Full Preterism doctrine, and where to keep and put Futurism doctrine. What’s being considered Partial Preterism today is actually Full Preterism. Like Ed Stevens, Kim Burgess is teaching Covenant Eschatology Full Preterism Cult doctrine from the individual body view (IBV) perspective, even though Ed takes the literal Rapture view and Kim does not. The syncretism (a little of this and a little of that) happening in eschatology cults today is staggering!

Kim Burgess was recently interviewed, and here’s what he has to say…

Kim Burgess says the “change to immortality” for the living saints in AD 70 was a change in “covenantal status”, and that they entered “new covenant kingdom status”, and they were “covenantally glorified”.

Kim also said the end of sins in AD 70 was the end of “objective covenantal sins”.

He says the events of AD 70 were “objective covenantal accomplishment”.

He says the eschatological “Day, capital D” arrived in AD 70, and “the Dawn” was “the period between AD 30 and AD 70”.

He says the accomplishment of the eschatological salvation was “done by AD 70”.

He says “The parousia was AD 70”.

He says, “The covenantal objective work” took place “between AD 30 and AD 70”.

He says, “The old age” was “the old age of sin and death in Adam”.

Kim Burgess said the following…

“There’s two transitions going on in the New Testament. There’s a Moses to Christ contrast, the old covenant to new covenant contrast. Yes. That’s done. We all agree on that. That’s fully consistently Preterist. But there’s also an Adam created order transition into Christ, the new creation order.”

In reference to…

Romans 7:24, “the body of this death”

Romans 6:6, “the body of sin”

Colossians 2:11, “the body of the sins of the flesh”

Kim Burgess said the following…

“Is he using body there in terms of the physical human body? No he’s not. He’s using body there in a corporate perspective. By being in Adam, you’re in a body of sin. You’re in a body of death. You’re in a body of flesh in that regard. And Paul could talk about a human body, a human body that he’s in.”

Uuuuuuum? What?! This is the kind of doublespeak you get with these confused guys. And they all pretend that they get along and have unity with all this confusion and doublespeak.

Kim Burgess says, “The flesh in the sense of Romans 8:9” is “clearly covenantal”.

Romans 8:9, “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.”

He says the kingdom came in AD 70 “covenantally”.

He says, “I’m not waiting for the kingdom of God to come. The kingdom’s here.”

He says, “Christ lives and died under the old covenant order. The new covenant order didn’t come into being until his resurrection, ascension, and Pentecost.”

Wow! He’s all over the place! It’s not only him by the way. It’s many others who are all over the place!

The eschatological waters in Cultural Pseudo-Christianity are getting muddier and muddier, as pop pastors and pop influencers all chime in with their take on Preterism – whether Partial Preterism or Full Preterism. Kim Burgess and Gary DeMar are radically confused about Eschatology, as they wade into the interpretive waters alongside heretics in the Covenant Eschatology Full Preterism Cult. Sadly, gullible and naive people are taken in by cult of personality influencers who play the confidence trick game (the con game), and these snake oil salesmen continue to grow their little mini cults.
